A Year of Growing in Photography

Jamaican Independence Day, August 2017

About a year ago, I asked to borrow my roommate's camera over the Thanksgiving holiday. That's where I decided that I liked getting behind the camera and capturing cool shots, intimate moments, and telling stories through images. I'd already known that I liked being in front of the camera. "Modelling" and going on "photo shoots" is fun for me, but more importantly, it is what helped start me on a journey to self love. It inspired me to get to know my town better by visiting nearby parks, preserves, festivals and gardens for photo shoots.

Now, almost a year later, photography has become an even greater love of mine. My editing skills have improved immensely, especially after graduating from a random online site BeFunky to making more professional edits in Photoshop. I've had the opportunity to take head shots for friends being honoured with prestigious awards, family photos, newborn photos, professional images for friends with small businesses and more. Below are just a few of the shots I've taken over the past year: from unedited Thanksgiving images to retouched and not quite so "amateur" shots as part of Fotos Royales Photography.

Love and Light,

Reina M
